About
Clonmel Mountain Bike Club
We've been around for ten years or more, riding and trail building in the hills and woods around Clonmel. We like to think that we are a friendly and inclusive bunch, keen to welcome new members and show off some pretty amazing terrain to anyone who is interested.
Like most mountain biking groups in this country we've had our fair share of challenges over the years, but we reckon what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and the last twelve months has seen a massive increase in interest in our sport. Maybe the best bit has been the number of young people getting into Mtb around Clonmel and the surrounding area.
We are ambitious to see the sport develop further in this area: Clonmel as a sizeable town is almost unique in having hills and trails on its doorstep, and our club is working hard with the Tipperary Sports Partnership and the local authority to promote the potential of the town as a mountain bike capital.
We are proud of our good relationship with other hill users and adhere to a strict code of conduct and respect around walkers, horse riders and others.
Membership of the club is currently for over 18's only. This will change as we get more established. In the meantime, we are happy to show off the trails to minors if accompanied by a parent.
Our activities range from group spins (with adherence to Covid distancing regs at the moment) arranged via Whatsapp, to entry in national level competitions, mainly enduro racing but with some downhill and cross country events as well.
